Why PLOT exists
Quality smut is hard to find on purpose. The writing is out there — Literotica, Reddit, Kindle, and a long tail of authors who never built a following — but the shelves are built for browsing piles, not for taste. You know what you want. The internet mostly shrugs.
The haystack problem
Literotica is enormous and lightly niched. Sections are broad (romance, couplings, BDSM) and then you are on your own: page after page of newest or highest-rated, with no real sense of whether the next opening is the kink, pairing, length, or tone you actually came for. Great stories sit next to filler. Rating helps a little. It does not know you.
Reddit is worse for discovery and better for accident. A few subreddits hold serious erotic writing; most of the firehose is whatever hit today. Search is clumsy. Flair is optional. There is no durable “more like this” once you leave the thread. If a story did not chart that week, it might as well not exist.
Kindle has covers, tropes in the blurbs, and a store that rewards already-famous names. If you do not know the right keywords, you drown in lookalikes. If a book has no reviews yet, the algorithm has little reason to show it.
What we built instead
PLOT is a discovery layer, not a publisher. We index eligible adult fiction, classify it against a real taxonomy — genre, tropes, kinks, pairings, length — and put a personalized feed in front of you. You pick what you want. Saves, skips, hides, and what you actually read teach the next card. Stories stay on their source sites. Readers stay free.
Great stories should not need an existing audience to find readers.
